Lots of summer veggies taste great raw, straight from the garden.

We tend to think that vegetables need to be cooked in some way, but when you grow your own, nothing tastes better than snacking on raw vegetables as you pick.

Of course, this doesn't work for everything, but try eating fresh green beans, peas, or okra raw.

My favorite raw veggies are cucumbers and tomatoes, which I love to slice into a salad shortly after picking. I do have to bring them inside to prepare. They make a tasty and nutritious fresh summer lunch.

Okra pods are sweet and tender when they are picked young.

Blue Lake Pole Beans, like most beans, taste great picked young and tender for eating raw.
