Let's think outside of the box. I love using things for other than their original purpose. A pipe cutter can be used to cut branches just as easily as it cuts pipes into pieces.

Head to the plumbing department for all your branch trimming needs. The price of ratchet pruners is expensive. It is a specialty tool made to make your life in the garden easy. And it sure does! But did you know that if you use a pipe cutter for PVC, copper etc., it works the same? You can buy a ratcheting pipe cutter for $15-$20 or less. They come in various sizes for your needs. Got a thick 2" branch? There's a pipe cutter for that purpose. Do you cut a lot of small 1" branches? There are ratchet pipe cutters for that. I keep a pipe cutter especially for my branches now.

Here is a link to a good pair that can cut most pipes: https://amzn.to/2yYKDn9
