The priorities of a gardener! We were going through the two day process of having our roof replaced and I didn't want my li'l "Dragon" to get destroyed in the process. What's a gardener to do?

I covered it with a wash basket and placed a big rock on top of the basket for a bit of added security. My bloom was still able to get circulated air and it was also able to get some sun! Our roofers laughed when they saw my set up, but it worked. My 4-5 week old Jovibarba bloom survived the tearing off and replacement of the shingles and the gutters. After 23 years of raising hens and chicks, this is my very first bloom, so I was going to do everything possible to protect it!
I was one very happy “Dragon” Mama. Smiling I nicknamed it "Dragon" because I think it looks like one.
