Growing lilies isn't very complicated. Follow a few easy tips and watch these beauties grow!

Lilies want well drained soil. If the soil does not drain sufficiently, the bulbs can rot, or the plants can develop fungus. Good drainage and proper air circulation will prevent these problems.

Lilies want sun, although they will tolerate up to half a day of shade. If they are given too much shade, they will become spindly and try to stretch toward the sun. As long as the bulbs are planted deep enough to provide some heat protection, lilies are happiest with full sun.

Fall planting is the ideal time. They are very tolerant of cold, so you don't have to worry about an early frost when planting in the fall. If you plant too late, or the weather turns horribly cold quickly, add mulch to protect the bulbs. Mulch also doubles to keep the bulbs cool in the summer.

Unless your soil is very poor, fertilization isn't required. Easy, easy!!

As you can see, these beautiful flowers are fairly no-fuss. Add some, or more to your garden!
