Try a handy dandy floss pick. The squarish floss end is easier to hang onto and maneuver than anything else I've tried yet, and the pick end is skinny enough to tickle one root system at a time out, without bothering any of its neighbors. The ones that work best for tiny seedlings are the type that have a wider, flat mid-section. Simply slip the point in your planting mix perpendicular to the seedling stem and let your baby plant lie over on it.
This image shows a Chilean Monkey Flower (Erythranthe naiandina) sprout attached to and growing through a single piece of vermiculite, now ready to be transferred to its growing container.
