First, a quick note: In month's past we have started the raffles on Monday and ended them on Wednesday. We have decided to change that because our newsletter goes out over the weekend, and by holding the raffle during that time, it gives the newsletter readers a chance to know about it and come participate. Now that we've explained that, let's talk about this raffle!

We have two companies who are sponsoring this raffle: Brent & Becky's Bulbs and Old House Gardens. Both are great companies who come highly recommended. Here are the prizes being offered:

Brent & Becky's Bulbs has been chosen to be the supplier of the Marathon Daffodil Planting in Boston, a planting of 'Dutch Master' daffodils all along the Boston Marathon route, as that was what was in bloom that day when the bombing occurred.

From the exact same stock of Dutch Master bulbs that will be planted in Boston, Brent & Becky's Bulbs is offering as a prize 50 of these Dutch Master Bulbs. You can now participate in this very special event by growing the same bulbs in your own garden.

Brent & Becky's Bulbs are hybridizers of daffodils and third generation bulb growers. They trial many unusual and specialty bulbs on their 28 acre farm and gardens in Gloucester, VA. Jay Hutchins, their GM, has a long history with ATP and will be interviewed in our podcast later this week.

Old House Gardens is providing a dozen of their rarest, mostly-white daffodils, dating from 1869-1940, guaranteed to thrive in zones 4b-8a (or 4b-9b on the West Coast):

3 Mrs. Langtry, 1869
3 Lucifer, 1890
3 Niveth, 1931
3 Firebird, 1940

Old House Gardens is America's only mail order source devoted entirely to heirloom bulbs, many available nowhere else, and they are an international leader in the preservation of these fabulous relics. They have a very interesting history and are involved with some really neat projects. You'll enjoy learning more about them on the About Us section of their website.

As always, the prizes are chosen in order of the drawing. So first place gets first dibs! As runner up prizes, the 3rd, 4th and 5th place winners will each get from me 50 acorns. Smiling

The ticket buying window is now open and will remain open until this Monday at 6:00pm Central time. The drawing will be done and posted on Tuesday. Important note for winners: If you are contacted as a winner and asked to choose a prize you have 3 days to respond with your choice. If you do not respond within 3 days, the next placed winner will be contacted and allowed to pick.

Tickets cost 5 acorns each. Don't know what acorns are? Click here to learn about acorns, and how to get them. Good luck to all participants!

This raffle is now closed!
