Don't throw away those canning lids after you empty the jars.

Wash them off and use them for plant labels on cattle panels and cages. Use a permanent marker to label the lids. Use a hole punch to make the hole. You can use florist's wire or twine to attach them. I use cattle panels to support my tomatoes. These make it easy to view the labels at eye level. They also work great on tomato cages or other supports.

After the season, lay them out on a sheet of newspaper, spray paint over them, and they'll be ready for next season.
