Seeds are maroon and white. Given to SSE by John Withee; named for Carrie Belle Stallard of Wise County, VA. The variety dates to at least the 1930s. Used as a dry bean, described as having a "wonderful rich, meaty flavor; great for soups." Also said to be excellent as a green shell bean, with a somewhat nutty flavor.
