New to me in 2022. Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds. Transplant carefully (taproot) - Grow on in early spring, in rich soil with moderate moisture. So I did that, but the transplant of the little seedlings did not go as well as I'd hope. I think the nearby wood mulch was too drying and competing for nitrogen. THIS year, 2023 I will winter sow and let them get a little bigger, but not too big, because of the taproot. I will mulch with finely divided leaf mulch. That should help.

March 21, 2022: Seeds germinated (Showing green leaves in WS jug)
January 17, 2023: Seeds sown (Will use good soil for planting and mulch well with finely ground leaf mulch this year.)
February 1, 2023: Seeds sown (New sowing, WS in Dixie cups in tote.)
February 12, 2023: Seeds sown (Tried the stones & sand method of direct sowing today. Planted in front garden bed, south east, to the left of our Star Magnolia and behind it.)
March 31, 2023: Transplanted (Winter Sown in Dixie cups tote, sprouts have 2nd sets of leaves. Planted with cloche protection outdoors in front yard new bed. Reference: https://frostdate.com/zone/6a/...)
May 1, 2023: Transplanted (Set out in several garden spaces in the front yard, after hardening off for a few days outdoors.)
