Kevalsha's Plant List

A note from Kevalsha
I like to grow a variety of plants from trees to many ground-covers. I also grow annuals and vegetables. I always find places for more plants. Using containers for those that need protection from frost and are used as house plants is a good idea. Many climbing varieties grow on my trees including a vanilla orchid that grows on a camphor tree and is hanging in there for the past two winters. I try to create barriers that make protected areas for plants that would normally would not survive the elements in my area.

This year I have about 7 of these pigeon peas.

This year my pigeon peas are full of flowers and fruits, but pretty soon we will have a cold spell and I hope they do not get damaged.
January 21, 2018: Entered Dormancy (My pigeon peas are now dormant and some of them may not come back as we had cold weather for several hours and they do not like that. I will plant some more pigeon peas. Pigeon Peas are a great substitute for meats. They are cooked the same way as any fabacea or beans. Pigeon peas can be harvested when green but fully mature or they can be left to dry and harvested at that stage. I prefer to harvest them when still green.)

We have many papaya trees around the property. Even the male trees which only give flowers I let them grow if they are out of the way. Papaya trees, apart from giving edible fruit they also attract hummingbirds and other beneficial s. Their leaves also give an atmosphere of the tropics.
