Itoh Peony (Paeonia 'Yellow Crown') |
Prev Peony |
The root I received was about 1 1/2 to 2 inches long. It was just a nub with one eye. It did not sprout the first year I planted it. I thought that it had died. The next year one little stalk appeared. After 3 years it finally flowered but I don't think it is the yellow crown. It is a cream color double with just a slight blush of a soft butter yellow and just a slight blush of a pink. Essentially it is a cream colored double with arching stalks. It is pretty. Maybe it is Raspberry Sundae that I planted there. I did buy that in 2011.
Peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Festiva Maxima') |
Have Peony |
In the new border garden down the side of the garage. It is the second peony down.
Peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Gay Paree') |
Have Peony |
Raspberry pink cup with a yellow center. Mine has no tuft of pink petals on top. But it is very pretty.
Peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Karl Rosenfield') |
Prev Peony |
The first peony growing in the small border garden along the side of the garage might be a KR. It is slow to grow and has not bloomed yet.
Peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Raspberry Sundae') |
Have Peony |
I might have this still. The peony by the doorstep next to the Seafoam Rose might be it. I thought I had planted Yellow Crown there but then it bloomed and is not looking like the yellow crown. It's more likely to be a Raspberry Sundae. It's a double cream color with arching branches. There are traces of a slight pink blush and a slight buttery yellow tint. If it is RS, then it was planted in 2011 and it took 3 years to bloom! Re-purchased from Wild's in 2015. |

Peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Sorbet') |
Have Peony |
It bloomed a full raspberry color. It took 2 years to bloom and when I saw the full raspberry color and not the expected raspberry pink and white, I thought that I had been sent the wrong plant. However, I have seen photos of Sorbet on line and on this peony data base showing some plants as bicolored and some as a solid raspberry color like mine. I'm still suspicious that I was sold the wrong variety. Re-purchased 2015 from Wild's. |
