Azure Monkshood (Aconitum fischeri)

I fell hard for the Monkshood because of the petals it gives. I had two last season (2012) but they were Aconitum x arendsii but eaten alive by spider mites. I have replaced them with two fishceri's this season. I fell in love with the petals well before I realized how poisonous they are! :)

My favorite of all boxwood varieties. I saw one that is shaped perfectly like a conventional light bulb, and barely a foot tall.

Take a look at the pic I submitted that shows three of these fully matured, all three standing just over six feet tall!

An apparent popular choice here where I am for a landscape favorite for the entrance to apartment complexes.

A strong and beautiful Bellflower

I couldn't stop staring at this one when I saw it. I was elated when I found that hummingbirds may find this attractive and delicious :)

Plume Cockscomb (Celosia argentea 'China Town')

So mesmerizing, I had a large pot for this annual. I put the red one in the center, and six yellow ones that surround it :)

3:57 pm. 'Starburst' says it all.

Ice Plant (Delosperma floribundum StarburstĀ®)

I planted six of these around my parents house mailbox. When I first saw it, I thought, "Eww, they look like little worms" lol...but as I continued to check them out further, I realized that I kind of like them, that they were odd looking, and did have many flowers. Glad to have one in my balcony garden now :).

Bleeding Heart Luxuriant

An all-time favorite plant of mine. The first ones I saw was around my father's home years ago, and there were so many, it nearly surrounded the entire home. I wish I knew what kind they were now!

Wide Brim Hosta

In my pursuit of attracting hummingbirds, and seeing what this lily could become, I bought four of them :)

Dicentra 'Valentine' blooms here around the 2nd week of April. I

I had one last year (2012), but it was eaten alive by spider mites before I even knew what a spider mite was. Instantly replaced this season, and doing just fine :)

Boston Fern (Nephrolepis exaltata)

For a "ceiling touch-up" on my balcony, I felt two Boston Ferns completed a picturesque highlight for all of my plants.

Balloon Flower (Platycodon grandiflorus 'Sentimental Blue')

I took a gamble on this one because I only learned so much about them. I lost 10/12 balloon flowers last season (2012) to spider mites, but have two survivors from last season now. As soon as stores replenish these, I hope to bring more home in the purple and white mix I was looking for!
