Noid Daylily |
Have Trade as plant Dormant Daylily Unusual Form / Spider Daylily NoID Daylilies |
Purchased as 'Sergeant Major' but is seemingly not the right color or size nor is it a spider. Pollen fertile w/seedlings out of this dormant [TX] tetraploid NoID x 'Desperado Love'. This NoID does not bloom every year and needs to be relocated from oak tree roots and shade. Relocated Oct 2022 to 145.2.1 bloomed May 2023 just in case: from archive.org trimmerdaylily.com 2016 (Dan Trimmer, 2004). Tetraploid ((Red Suspenders X Long Tall Sally) X Swirling Spider)) x Royal Celebration) 44" EM. Re. Sev. Each segment is 7" long with petals measuring 1 ¾" (4 x 1 ratio) on this exceptionally clear colored saturated dark, clear 12" candy apple red spider. I had to hold off introduction for a year to get stock to meet the demand generated from garden visitors. The Sergeant derives his name from my grandfather, Sergeant Major Daniel McLain Trimmer, so you know I like it! Tall (44") scapes are upright and erect. SERGEANT MAJOR has powerful pollen, but I have not been able to set on it. A good grower but modest increaser SERGEANT MAJOR is by far my best long petaled or spider to date. |

Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Aerial Display') |
Have Evergreen Daylily Unusual Form / Spider Daylily |
not blooming when purchased Refused to bloom in original location. Picture 1st ever full bloom. FFO ever wrecked by heavy rain. Definitely extra early, scaping as of 4 Apr 2024 Aerial Display (Stamile, 2003) height 43 inches (109 cm), bloom 9.5 inches (24 cm), season EE, Rebloom, Evergreen, Tetraploid, Fragrant, 25 buds, 5 branches, Spider Ratio 4.00:1, Yellow with maroon red eye above chartreuse throat. ((Moonlit Masquerade × Tet. Rainbow Spangles) × Tet. Marked by Lydia) from archive.org Floyd Cove Nursery 2013 *AERIAL DISPLAY (Stamile,P.) TET 251-N [(Moonlit Masquerade x Tetra Rainbow Spangles) X Tetra Marked By Lydia] 43" EERe. Ev. fr. emo. 9 ½" x 1 ¾" x ¾". 14" wingspan. Cascading spider. Spider ratio 4.0:1. 5-way branching. 25 buds. Strong erect scapes. I have bloomed a good many seedlings from this cross and AERIAL DISPLAY has always been my personal favorite. It is something about the very large size of this flower – 14" if stretched out, 9 ½" as it naturally stands and the gentle cascading presentation of the flowers that make it so beautiful. AERIAL DISPLAY can be described as a yellow with a maroon red eyezone but it is the clarity of color and striking contrast that make this flower one of the boldest in the garden. A great parent for chevron and patterned eye spiders. But alas, I have never gotten a pod on it. To my knowledge, it is pollen fertile only. |

The petals have a base color of light pale lavender, with a violet blue-layered eye that extends nearly to the petals edge. The sepals echo and complement the color of the petals. A very large lacquered green throat dominates the center of the bloom. Early bloomer, well branched, with a high bud count and very fertile both ways |

located area 79.3.2 pollen fertility confirmed; have several seedlings, at least one of which has bloomed Bali Watercolor (Stamile, 2002) height 35 inches (89 cm), bloom 9 inches (23 cm), season M, Rebloom, Evergreen, Tetraploid, Fragrant, 35 buds, 7 branches, Spider Ratio 4.36:1, Lavender with silvery watermark above green throat. (Lavender Arrowhead × Royal Celebration) Awards: AM 2011; HM 2008; HOS 2009 from archive.com Floyd Cove Nursery 2013 *BALI WATERCOLOR (Stamile, P.) TET 0144-G (Lavender Arrowhead X Royal Celebration) 35" MRe. fr. emo. ev. 9" x 1 3/8" x 7/8". 12" wing span. Spider ratio 4.2:1. Spider variant. 7-way branching. 35-40 buds. The first thing everyone comments on when they look at BALI WATERCOLOR is the beautiful colors: very Easter-like with lavenders, yellows and greens. Unfortunately the camera and film simply do not capture the colors. What looks like a silvery watermark with charcoal band in the garden looks faded and dirty in the slide. Nothing could be further from the truth. A true spider variant BALI WATERCOLOR shows beautiful Gauguin - like colors suggestive of his work in Tahiti. An intriguing flower BALI WATERCOLOR is the only flower I know of in the spider class with such an intricate pattern. This is the exciting beginning of intricate eyes, watermarks and patterns in the spiders. Easily fertile both ways |

Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Black Handlebars') |
Have Unusual Form / Spider Daylily |
from archive.org Floyd Cove Nursery 2013 *BLACK HANDLEBARS (Stamile,P.) TET 3267-A (Wild Wookie X Velvet Ribbons) 31" EMRe. Ev. emo. 9 ½" x 1 ½" x 1". 11.5" wingspan. 5-way branching. (3 laterals + terminal "Y") 25-30 buds. Unusual form – crispate. Spider ratio 3.8:1. When I first looked upon BLACK HANDLEBARS it reminded me of the old silent movies where the villain, always dressed in black, twisted the ends of his mustache while vowing to commit some dastardly act. Hence the name for this very flat from the throat red black blend unusual form. What is special about BLACK HANDLEBARS is the large closure figure and large citron green throat. The tips of the sepals are quilled and twisted and the ends of the spatulate petals pinched and twisted. With its large full center this flower resembles a large green and black starfish and could easily have been called "Black Starfish". A real fun flower and fertile both ways. |
