antsinmypants's Plant List: Seasoning

A note from antsinmypants
Feel free to ask about anything in my list you may be interested in. I'm always looking to trade. Just because something isn't in my want list doesn't necessarily mean I don't want it & just because something I have isn't marked for trade doesn't mean it isn't available for trade. I stay busy so don't always get around to updating.

Collected seeds August 2020.

Native to Europe, western and central Asia, north-western Africa, Morocco, Iberia, and the British Isles, north to northern Scandinavia,[2] and east to northern Pakistan and Xinjiang in western China.

Garlic mustard greens are high in Vitamin A and Vitamin C as well as trace minerals, chlorophyll, and enzymes. The roots taste like horseradish and can be pickled or used in soups as a root vegetable. The seeds when ground makes a fabulous mustard sauce and the dried greens can be made into a paste like wasabi.

Young first-year garlic mustard plants contain up to 100ppm cyanide, a level that is toxic to many vertebrates. Once the plant is chopped up the cyanide gas is eliminated.

Hardiness zone. 4a - 8b.

EARLY SPRING SEED EXTRAVAGANZA #1 - 2024 - Mimistime - Harvested 2023

This strongly aromatic, self-seeding herb is native from the Mediterranean region to Southern Russia and was cultivated for its carminative, or gas dispelling, properties by the Greeks and Romans. Both its fern-like foliage and spicy seed have been used for centuries to flavor soups, sauces, and pickles. Long Island Mammoth Dill is an heirloom variety popular for its vigor and use in pickling. Dill attracts beneficial insects and is the larval host for the black swallowtail butterfly.

Basil, "Hot & Spicy"

Dad bought from Nursery June 2019. A

DND's All Seeds Swap #9 (2022) - lovesblooms - 2022G

Tomatoes Galore Swap - critterologist - Wonderful aroma and flavor, definitely "lime" and not "lemon." Seeds were not bagged, but plants (grown from new commercial seed) were pretty well isolated.

A zesty and refreshing basil variety with a distinct lime fragrance and flavor. Wildly attractive to pollinators, the fragrant foliage is a delightful addition to the herb garden, containers, beds, and borders. A few sprigs of lime basil tucked into a floral arrangement bring forth a burst of scent. Famous in Thai food and other Southeast Asian dishes. An excellent tea herb, it is also incredible when made into a simple syrup -- so much fun in fusion cuisine, drinks, and desserts!

Remove flower buds promptly to prolong harvest.

Native to India and Asia.

Tomatoes Galore Swap - critterologist - Tall upright plants are slow to flower (only one of my plants set seeds before frost). Leaves are sturdy but still very tasty; I used them all summer in stir fry, especially Thai Red Curry with coconut milk: 1 packet Taste of Thai red curry paste, 1 can coconut milk, whatever meat & veg you care to put into the pan (for us, that's usually chicken, peppers, and sweet onion), and a nice bunch of thai basil tips. I also minced leaves in the food processor with some fresh thai peppers and a little added avocado oil, then froze in ice cube trays for future use.

Days to maturity from direct seed : 45-60.
Days to maturity from transplant : 30-45.
