Purchased original plant from Eastern Market in Detroit in 2016. Is doing well in 2020. Prefers afternoon shade from the hot sun, which it is getting, planted near climbing hydrangeas

Needs specific temperature: 60-65F Days to germinate: 7-20 days

Grows to 3 feet, NOTE: Establishes with a long taproot, Will Naturalize
Self fertile.

Package says purple blooms. Compare to see if it is Chedlow cultivar.

Note it is a biennial, leaves in first year and flowers & seed pods the second. After flowering, it dies. Self seeds readily, will colonize. Prefers part shade and moist soil.

Have this plant since 2005. Brought to Hawks cottage garden in 2014. Works well in the cottage garden style. Blooms for part of the summer, May - June. Low height makes it suitable for front to mid-garden in borders. March 30, 2022: Seeds sown (Spring sown in a pot with a dome cover. Also sown on April 1st in a pot with Columbine and another, larger dome.)
