lauribob's Plant List: Aspen

A note from lauribob
I am not interested in selling or trading live plants. I do save seeds once in awhile and would be willing to trade those.

Made up name - I think it's likely 'Mme. Emile Debatene'. One of several that Becker gave me. I really like this one. I need to move it to a location that gets more sun. It has barely bloomed the last couple years since the trees have gotten more dense.

NOID. Made up name. At the top of the bank in the Aspen Garden. It needs to be moved - it's kind of in the middle of the ant hill and it doesn't get much water. I can't wait to try doing that. It's a really pretty one though and deserves a nicer spot.

Native
Native - these are all over the front bank and recently one popped up in the aspen garden. Lots of things pop up under the power lines.

Chinese Astilbe (Astilbe rubra 'Maggie Daley')

2020: Aspen. I must have ordered this from Gilbert Wild by mistake - I had no need for an astilbe. Oh well, I stuck it under the trees down in the hole.

2020: Planted on the bank near the spirea.

Pigsqueak (Bergenia crassifolia)

Little bitty thing on the slope from long ago. Should probably move it to somewhere with more sun - the shrubs are shading it and it gets no water.

Siberian Pea Shrub (Caragana arborescens)

Front Bank
These do well here - even in the dry areas. I originally got a few of these from the Conservation District. They've spread, but not out of control.

Red Barked Dogwood (Cornus alba)

This is a healthy shrub that I planted years ago. It needs constant pruning to reveal my rock steps that I put much too close.

Native.
This is turning up everywhere. Trying to get it gone from most everywhere other than the aspen garden and maybe the corner bank.
The one in the KK is too big for me to dig up, so it's staying too.

Rocks
Dead Zone
Aspen: These decided to be here all on their own, growing out of the lawn at the foot of the stairs, kind of mixed in with the creeping thyme.
H&T: Under the sumac and into the lawn.
Rocks: I didn't plant them here either, but they brighten things up while in bloom.
2020: There are really a lot of these here now. I think they're jolly so they can mostly all stay.
Z5: These were around the circle, but I don't see them anymore.

Front Bank
Aspen: I'm totally letting it go in here as a ground cover. I'm going to actively try to get it to spread in the dry areas along the driveway.
Corner: I'm letting it go here as a ground cover as well. It looks nice and hides a lot of neglect.
Front Bank: 2020 - I moved some that I dug out of the rocks to under the chokecherry as a ground cover.
Rocks: This had moved in here, but I more or less have eradicated it from here. It's too busy.

Forsythia 'Northern Gold'

This thing has been here for ever and doesn't seem to have any substance to it still. I wonder what it needs?

Aspen: 2016 - Planted one under the dogwood by the steps. Not sure if it's still there?
GH: In the triangle
Z5: Gone

Front Bank
Front Bank: By the goutweed. I think it's gone, but there's a daylily over by the siberian pea that looks like Stella.
Aspen: Near the top of the bank.
2019: I can see signs of life where gophers dug a hole there. Not sure if it will make it.
2018: This thing is gone! It bloomed last year and looked healthy enough.

Autumn Joy.
Aspen:
There's one under the red twig dogwood that should probably be moved to a more open spot on the bank.
KK:
2020: There's still a sprig of it that I missed came up this spring.
2019: Dug up the one under the daphne and split into 4 chunks.
Rocks:
2019: I moved one from the KK garden.
Z5:
2019: I moved 3 from the KK. 2 by the porch in the dry area and 1 next to the garage.

Rocks
I thought this thing liked it moist. Ha! It's trying to take over the rock garden, and snuck across the driveway to the aspen bank.

Image

Daffodil (Narcissus 'Palmares')

These were really pretty pink when I planted them. They morphed into yellow, as so many pink daffs seem to do for me. I'm not even sure that they're still here. This area has become quite overgrown.

Asp: This is a tiny one at the top of the bank that was probably started by a seed from a bird on the power line above. It has never bloomed, and has been tiny forever. I'm not even sure if it's still here.
GH: Single fuchsia from Deb
FB: Is there still one here that hasn't bloomed? Or did I name it already?

On the bank, not particularly thriving in the shade. Pink flowers - Either Pink Jewel or John Creech.
