Bugbane (Actaea simplex 'Henry's Selection') |
Have Front |
This is not a recognized cultivar. I can't remember where I bought it, maybe the nursery in Brewster that closed.
Monkshood (Aconitum 'Spark's Variety') |
Have Front |
This is the earlier, shorter, lacier one. From Deb |
||
Monkshood (Aconitum carmichaeli 'Arendsii') |

The taller one in the back.
Bugbane (Actaea racemosa 'Atropurpurea') |

Japanese Painted Fern (Anisocampium niponicum 'Ursula's Red') |
Have Front |
This looks quite like the other ghost fern to me, with just a bit more red perhaps in the stem area. |
||
Columbine (Aquilegia flabellata 'Cameo') |
Have Front |
|||
Western Columbine (Aquilegia formosa) |
Have Front Native |
I call this one Rainy Pass because I saved it from a ditching job up there.
Jack in the Pulpit (Arisaema triphyllum) |
Have Front |
I think there's still a few of these in there.
Goat's Beard (Aruncus dioicus 'Zweiweltenkind') |
Have Front |
Front. One of my favorites. The male flowers are a little showier, but the female seeds are nice later.
European Wild Ginger (Asarum europaeum) |
Have Front |
Not sure if this is still here.
Astilbes (Astilbe) |
Have Front |
|||
Astilbe 'Straussenfeder' |
Have Front |
|||
Astilbe (Astilbe rubra 'Superba') |
Have Front |
This astilbe hasn't been very impressive. It has wimpy flowers with meh color. I don't actually have any astilbes that rock my boat. Maybe the alkaline soil?
Mountain Fleece (Bistorta amplexicaulis 'Firetail') |
Have Front Front Bank |
Mine are much paler than other photos show - a soft pink. I did buy this as Persicaria amplexicaulis 'Firetail', however. Persicaria has since changed to Bistorta, but the cultivar should be the same. Not sure why mine is so pale, as it is at Deb's house. Could be a mismarked 'Pink Elephant' or 'Rosea'. 2019: I had to thin these out in the front garden so the sprinkler could get past them. I moved a bunch to the front bank next to the Bishop's Weed. |

Silver Siberian bugloss (Brunnera macrophylla 'Jack Frost') |

Crocus (Crocus chrysanthus 'Blue Pearl') |

Umbrella Plant (Darmera peltata) |

These start looking a little rough in August from wind damage. |
