Papyrus (Cyperus papyrus Graceful Grasses® Prince Tut™) |
Have Not planted yet Tender and Annuals this year Tender/Annuals Water |
FS-PS, 18-30". These are only hardy to 30° 2024: I picked up 3 of these at Ace Hardware after they suffered some frost damage. They cut them way back and sold for half price. They look like they'll probably survive. I will pot them up, fertilize them, and see how they do in the greenhouse. None of the papyrus I planted from seed has shown up yet. I got a late start this year again. 2022: Put one in each barrel. These were really outstanding this year! Starting with 4" pots, they were a 2-3' high graceful focal point in all 3 barrels this year. I am attempting to overwinter in the pump-house, after cutting them way back so they'd fit on the shelf. We'll see; it's worth a try anyway. |

Calla Lily (Zantedeschia 'Lavender Sensation') |
Have Tender and Annuals this year Tender/Annuals |
FS-PS, moist soil, 18-24", spring-summer. This is my longest lived calla lily so far! 2024: I forgot about it in the pumphouse this year. It's in the GH now, but I don't know if I left it too long... 2023: Had my doubts about it this year, but it finally came up. 2022: These are more robust than ever this year! The blooms are a much deeper color, and the leaves are spotted. Odd that they would change like that, but it's quite striking. 2021: Third year for these! They were in active growth in the pumphouse - I watered them from time to time because we stayed home this winter. When I moved them to the greenhouse, they bloomed almost immediately. They were still blooming when I moved them outside. 2020: Successfully overwintered! Bloomed quite well again. 2019: These bloomed nicely, a lovely shade of lavender. |
