C2XC1211 x Secured Borders. White seedling with green stripes. The only one like this is HPSXSB231 and HPS is a kid of C2XC1212 (a sibling of C2XC1211). Started going green after a month.

Hypothesis: broken color blooms create higher chances of seeing variegated leaves.
This is not the only example I saw this year.

10 seeds of control versus 10 seeds of drug treated. From same batch of seeds. Chosen randomly assigned into each group to have identical matched groups.

Protocol:
(1) Incubate overnight at room temp in 1ml 15ml falcon tubes either distilled water or 5mg/ml pen-strep (stock concentration).
(2) Next day add 9ml of distilled water to the tubes and pour the seeds into standard dime baggies with perlite (so drug is now 0.5mg/ml). Pour off excess liquid as standard. Keep it at 4oC for re-use.
(3) Incubate at room temp for germination. At day 7 most had germinated. 10 for the control and 8 for the drug treated.
(4) Seeds photographed on blue post-its, and placed into small pots (groups kept together). Soil was pre-wetted with distilled water OR 0.5mg/ml (in distilled water) using a dropper. Excess was caught in small red plastic shot-glasses.
(5) Soil was maintained damp in the way above in 4 for the next week. Seedlings were left together under grow lights and photographed every day (sometimes twice per day, 12h apart - evening photography gives better resolution of colors).
(6) At day 14 albino or potential variegated were extracted and grown separately with the withdrawl of drugs, into fresh soil wetted with distilled water. Drug-treated green ones which looked normal were continued to be grown in same concentration of drug.
(7) At week 3 one of the 4 remaining drug-treated ones had a whitish-borders leaf emerging (one of the pics above). A few days later, however, it appeared more green. This was exposed to UV by moving it to a window before I saw the white, then moved back to the original place to more closely observe. Perhaps UV stimulation is required?
(8) Also note - preceeding (1) the seeds were first "mistakenly" incubated in the drug at 4oC for an hour or 2, before I read the protocol saying room temperature. This small detail may or may not be inconsequential, but is noted just in case.

"Cultivar denomination: 'PGHE 10/01' PBR

A Polish variety of daylily with purple-violet flowers and original cream leaves. This perennial creates clumps of leaves up to 40 cm high, from which 60 cm bare stems topped with flowers grow. The flowering of purple flowers with a purple eye begins in July and lasts until August. The flowers are decorated with a beautiful frill. The distinguishing feature of the variety is the unique color of the leaves. In spring, young leaves are creamy, then turn green in early June. It grows best when planted in sunny positions, in moderately moist soil, rich in nutrients. The variety is recommended for planting in perennial beds and cultivation in containers on balconies and terraces.

Frost resistance zone: 5a -29/-27 ° C

Breeder: Przemysław Godlewski, Poland

Year of market introduction: 2022"

Hot Pink Stripes ((PPXPS212)x(C2XC1212)223) x Secured Borders.
Grew all 30 seedlings. 4 were albino, 2 were interesting. This is one of those.
Has dark center green stripe like SB (see comparison image). Also has darker green on the tips of the leaves. More white than its sibling which is more yellow (leaves).

Hypothesis: broken color blooms create higher chances of seeing variegated leaves. This is not the only example I saw this year.

Notify Ground Crew x Bob Marley.
2021 seedling, from LA seeds (bonus seeds). Small ugly orange flower. Darker speckled eyezone (lipstick smudge, hence the nickname).
Hopefully, scapes will get tall in future years.
Update Spring 2022: Increased to 2 smallish fans. Both sibling have 1 big fan each.
Base of both fans have progressively turned red since emerging. Also happened to NGCXHT4J211 seedling (same pod parent).
Summer 2022: Finally bloomed in Aug. Much bigger flower. Also, scape is now over 4ft tall.
Spring 2023: 3 fans. Despite massive gorgeous healthy fans, no scapes. Even after constant feeding and weekly GA3.
Spring 2024: 8 fans.

Notify Ground Crew x Bob Marley. Second Seedling (bloomed exact same day as third one). Great height and branching. Gorgeous big fat leaves and tall fan. Ugly flower in hot weather. Nocturnal. Instant rebloom.
Spring 2023: 3 fans. Set a pod with RSVXRSV212!!

Rock Sold (Variegated) x [SELF]. This seedling has variegated leaves. New fans are also variegated, thankfully. Seems stable. Note: Made a nice 3-fan induced proliferation that was also variegated (grown indoors over winter to speed things up). Also, every first-year seedpod aborted. First-year pollen was bad, too.
2023: 11 fans emerged. However, variegation is not consistent. 2 really variegated ones (much better than last year), the remaining is much less, and more random. Will have to check in detail if there are any 100% green fans to eliminate once fans and leaves get bigger.
FFO: 8th July 2023

Its pollen made pods on sibling RSVXRSV211, and with Identity Crisis. However, after a few weeks those are now looking sick and very likely to abort.
As a pod parent it made pods with Black Flame Dragon, and Identity Crisis. The latter aborted after a few weeks. The BFD one still looks good. It made good seeds!

Note: (1) nocturnal, so likely be better to pollenate in the evening.
(2) All seedlings from 2023/2024 had no variegation, but a whiter crown. Including crossed to ID Crisis, NGCXBM212, BFD. Selfed seedlings did not germinate, sadly.
Might keep a couple seedlings anyway to do back-crosses.

Hemerocallis 'Secured Borders' (unregistered W. Przypek 05).
Gets to 12" tall. Leaves turn green as the weather hots up.
Not sure if diploid or tetraploid.
An expert tells me it is diploid.

Successfully made a pod with Olallie-1708. Pod is very small.

Time to get the slug bait out I'm afraid

Obtained 2 individual fans from the LA fall 2022. Dug out cone-flowers and replaced them with this.
Spring 2023: 3 fans. Only the newest one shows variegation (however, scape and buds are variegated on green one, so not worried). FFO Jun 18th.

Made pods with Black Flame Dragon and RSVXRSV212.
