Winter Interest - The Eye of the Beholder

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Maybe. But I’d argue that the phrase is six words too long. Beauty is. It just is. And if anything needs to be tuned, it’s the beholder’s eye. That’s true in my case, at least. This article illustrates how my vision has changed…or, better, maybe I’ve opened my eyes to things I was blind to previously. (1,373 words - Read the full article)

Winter in the North

I've always had a chuckle when I've seen articles in garden magazines that talk about planting for winter interest. Here in zone 3, everything usually has frozen before the middle of October and is covered with snow shortly afterward. But then I started looking around. (194 words - Read the full article)

Winter Interest in the Snowbelt

Creating winter interest and a pleasant view once your prized evergreen shrubs are buried for the duration, and after your brightly colored berries have been consumed by wildlife, can be done, but think hip-height or higher, and plan for more than one focal point. Some new reviews from the ATP Green Pages:

jmorth recommended Victory Seed Company and wrote:

Swift service, well packaged. Germination rate unknown, but previous reviewer said near 100%.

sequoia recommended Paw Paw Everlast Label Company and wrote:

I have purchased markers from them for at least 25 years and they still look good. Great quality! And Made in the USA!

Ecscuba recommended Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Co. and wrote:

I'm a newbie gardener. I've kept a little diary this winter and every Baker Creek seed I've planted in the greenhouse has sprouted quickly and done great. The other brands I've bought from the big box store haven't done well at all. I am sold on their quality. I love their business philosophy. Looking forward to receiving figs, mulberry and a lot of other new and unique seeds.

Daniel recommended Cool Roses and wrote:

This company mainly sells roses grafted on Fortuniana root stock. For Floridians, that's a good thing. They sell roses mostly in 1 and 2 gallon pots. They have a nice selection, but you really have to call to get the latest information on selection and availability. The personal service I received was incredible. The roses they delivered were huge and very well established (I ordered 3 gallon pots). I ordered a lot of plants and was fortunate to live close and be able to negotiate a personal delivery. The owner, Geoff Coolidge, is a wealth of information and very anxious to share it. This is a company that is committed to supplying A-plus plants with excellent customer service.

We keep growing, because ATP is where all the excitement is these days! Check out these numbers from last week:
