I am looking at and wanting more information about a new kiwi strain. I have seen it called "Artic Beauty" the male plant has pink, white and green varigated leaves, you need both a female and a male plant to grow fruit. I was hoping Burpee would be carrying this plant. Even if I don't get fruit it sounds pretty, and any information you can give me would be great.

Artic Beauty Kiwi is not in the current Burpee catalog, but there's always hope it might be included in subsequent catalogs! Artic Beauty (Actinidia kolomikta) is native to Russia and grows well in USDA zones 3-9. It will be borderline in your zone 10 garden because extremely cold weather can kill it, and your short summer season would not allow the fruit to fully ripen in most years. There has been some success with the plants as far north as Kalamazoo, so perhaps you'll still want to try growing Artic Beauty. The plants are available from Raintree Nursery, 391 Butts Rd., Morton, WA 98356. Phone (360) 496-6400 for a copy of their latest catalog.
