The Q&A Archives: Dividing Bromeliad

Question: I have a bromeliad (aechmea fasciata) where the flower died and 4 new plants are growing from the base of the mother plant. When should I separate the babies from the mother plant?

Answer: The mother plant will gradually die as the babies increase. The traditional time to separate them is spring, but you can do it a bit earlier or later, or when they seem crowded. Enjoy your plants!
