I have tried planting lettuce before and every time I try it never seems to grow. I water it regularly, and provide the plant with a sufficiant amount of light, yet the seed doesn't germinate. Does lettuce take a lot longer than other plants to grow or what?

Lettuce germinates pretty quickly but the secret is to keep the soil temperature fairly cool, about 68 degrees. If it is too warm the seed will not germinate as you have experienced. Good luck with your lettuce!
