I need something that grows very fast to plant this spring to block the view of my neighbors "hobbies". Is bamboo a good choice, or do you have other suggestions? I don't want to wait a year to hide his mess. I'll need to plant down a fenceline - quite a few trees around.

Bamboo would be too slow for you. It takes about 3 years to get established and ready to grow. After that, the individual shoots grow rapidly in spring and summer. If you do choose bamboo, select one of the "clumping" forms rather than the "running" form, as these are much easier to keep in control.

It will be difficult finding something that grows very fast, screen the view throughout the year, yet is not terribly invasive! Depending on how tall the screen needs to be, you might consider and evergreen tree or bush, or build a fence on which a vine could be grown.

I hope this helps. Thanks for the question!
