| It is possible there may have been a pollination problem. Gourds usually produce a number of male blossoms first and then after a bit, female blossoms. (The females are the only ones which will make fruit.) Pollination is usually accomplished by insects. Next year, you might try supplementing the pollination process yourself by dusting the male flowers over the female flowers. There might also have been some other sort of difficulty with the growing conditions. Gourds produce best if supplied with sufficient water and nutrients, but just as any other squash they will run to vines rather than fruit if they are over supplied with nitrogen.
