We have several indoor Bougainvilleas and they bloom quite well, however they are starting to look scrappy. Where do we prune (and when) to encourage a more bush effect?

You must be quite a gardener to be successfully growing Bougainvilleas indoors in Colorado!

You can prune them anytime (now would be fine). Cut the branches back by 1/3 or more to where the bush looks more in proportion and balanced to you. They will soon resprout new shoots in response to the pruning. Other than that, keep up the good work!

Thanks for the question.
