| My husband and I have a 1 year old honeysuckle bush growing in the back of our home. We live in South Texas Zone 9 which is a semi-tropical area. This honeysuckle went wild, it has grown up the trellis and has also started growing "runners" on the ground. Can we trim the runners and encourage the honeysuckle to travel upwards? And if we trim the runners can we induce the cutting to root to transplant to other areas of our yard? |
| You can certainly trim it back as needed and guide new growth in any direction you wish. To direct energy into the upward moving vines simply remove the crawlers at the base. Tip cuttings should root easily. This plant is in fact very tough and resiliant so you don't need to worry too much about harming it. |
