The Q&A Archives: Frost Damage On Bird Of Paradise

Question: We recently had one night of below freezing temperatures and now about half of the leaves on my plant are brown. Should I prune them back or leave them alone and what should I do about the dead flower stalks?

Answer: You can trim away damaged tissues. This includes flower stalks that suffered frost injury. Try not to cut away undamaged leaves and stems as these will help the plant recover.
