| Other names for this technique are intensive and square foot gardening, and yes, it really does work! You might try "Small Space, Big Harvest" by Duane Newcomb (he also wrote the "Postage Stamp Garden Book"), or either of these two classics: "How to Grow More Vegetables...than you ever thought possible on less land than you can imagine" by John Jeavons, or "Square Fopot Gardening" by Mel Bartholomew.
