I have what someone told me are "friendly snails". Called D---? Their shell is similar to a seashell and they supposedly eat the unfriendly snails. Could this be true and if it is where can I get more? Will diatomaceous earth or other pest controls affect them the same way as other snails?

You're referring to Decollate Predatory Snails (Rumina decollata). Diatomaceous earth will have the same effect on these snails as on the common brown snails. You can purchase Decollate Snails from Applied Bio Pest, 3310 Net Place, Oxnard, CA 93035. Phone (805) 984-9224. One caution to keep in mind is that any time you import a creature, it may upset the natural balance of other predators in your garden. You may create or inherit future problems in your garden by changing this natural balance. For more information on predatory snails, visit this web page: http://www.biopest.com/product....
