The Q&A Archives: HeatWave II Durability in Hot Weather

Question: I was wondering how well the HeatWave II tomato plants did in the hot/humid Lousiana summer weather. It gets well into the 90's on both temperature and humidity here. The sun's rays are also very hot.

Answer: 'Heatwave II' is an improvement over most other tomatoes when it comes to setting fruit during hot weather.

Large-fruited types as a group tend to not set as well as small-fruited types. As a result, cherry tomato varieties, like 'Super Sweet 100' and 'Sugar Snack' tend to set better in the heat.
