I have a large Live Oak tree in my front yard that has a lot of mistletoe in it. I am not able to trim it all out because it is too high and on weak limbs. I am considering renting a cherry picker to get me up into the tree to trim it out. I do not want to lose the tree. Do you have any suggestions or new products that my be helpful in getting rid of this. |
There is a product (called Florel) labeled for use on mistletoe. However, it does not eradicate it but only suppresses it for a time and requires annual reapplication in most cases. Therefore it is not recommended for most situations. If the mistletoe is on the outer limbs, you may want to try renting the equipment to get you where you can cut it out. Or, perhaps hiring someone to do it would be safer! Cut the limb off two or three feet below the mistletoe whenever possible to make sure and get all of this pesky plant's parts growing within the limb. |
