| I have several torch lily's (kniphofia unvaria) in my garden and with the past mild winter, there is a lot of green foliage remaining. Should same be removed prior to spring? I live on Long Island, NY within Zone 7. |
| Many plants including this one will look a bit ratty by spring, but there is no need to remove the foliage on torch lilies. In fact, the old foliage helps to protect the crown until the weather settles. In mid spring you can trim away any truly unsightly leaves, but until then resist the urge to tidy things up. As the new growth starts up the plant will look better all on its own, too. |
