We recently moved, and alas - our new home does not appear to have been blessed with fall bulbs. I had planted lots of bulbs in our old garden this past fall. I am now very disappointed that I will not enjoy their beauty. Is is entirely too late to plant bulbs, and if I do will they bloom this spring / summer? What kind of bulb varieties do you recommend?

It's so hard to leave a garden! But late February really is too late to plant the bulbs now as most need a chilling period to bloom and it is nearly spring! In addition, it is nearly impossible to purchase any in the northern hemisphere at this time of the year. On a brighter note, perhaps a few bulbs will peek out and surprise you as the spring progresses at your new house and surely at least a few neighbors will have some on display! If nothing else, this will be a good opportunity to scout out the prime spots to plant them next fall.
