I just cut up a fruit tree yesterday and I took some of the part considered graft wood and put them in a vase. I am trying to get them to root and I've heard its extremely hard. What should I do to get them to root where I can plant them?

They almost certainly will not root. Even if they did, you would have a tree that lacked the benefit of a quality type of rootstock. You will be much better off planting a grafted tree. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!
