In the wild, these seeds (Ilex opaca) normally are spread by birds. Gardeners can try washing the seed three times a day for about two weeks, then plant them and expect slow and erratic germination over the next year and a half, this with keeping the pots protected in bags. In my experience it is easier to start them from cuttings.
