The Q&A Archives: Growing Pistachios

Question: I would like to know If it is possible to grow pistachio nut trees here? Where can I find young trees?

Answer: Pistacia vera, the Pistachio Nut tree, is too tender to grow in your region. It grows best in the southwestern states where at maturity it becomes a broad, bushy tree about 30' high. Only female trees produce edible nuts.
