The Hadspen Blood Astrantia was recently featured on the cover page of Better Homes & Gardens (April '99). I'd like to know a little more about this perennial - hardy in our area, blooming time, height, etc.

Astrantia, or Masterwort, is a shrubby perennial with leafy stems that grow 2 1/2' n- 3' tall. It thrives in sunny or partly shady spots, in moist, rich soil. Astrantia produces flowers in dense, tight clusters surrounded by papery bracts. The plant is hardy from zones 3-8 (you're in zone 6). Astrantia is easy to care for; its only requirement is ample moisture during the summer. The bloom season is summer through autumn.
