If your Bougainvilla has been properly pruned and it still won't flower, try withholding water for a few weeks in mid-summer to stress the plant into blooming profusely. Bougainvilla should be fed lightly in early spring and again in early summer with an 8-8-8 or 10-10-10 general purpose fertilizer. Water it regularly during the spring and early summer, withhold water for a few weeks in mid-summer, then water regularly through late summer and autumn. Prune heavily in the spring to produce more flowering wood, and nip back long stems throughout the growing season to keep your plant growing vigorously and blooming profusely.
