Last fall I prepared a new garden next to a busy sidewalk. I transplanted some yarrow, brown eyed susans, bee balm and snow-in-summer. Could you suggest some additional perennials that wouldn't be ruined by children riding bikes over them?! |
Nothing will withstand that kind of traffic for long, but some tough more contenders are purple cone flower, daylilies, catmint (nepeta), dianthus, perennial geraniums (cranesbills) and creeping forms of thyme. You might also consider some largish rocks or a short fence to help them remember where the sidewalk ends. |
