The Q&A Archives: When To Prune Gardenias

Question: When do I prune my Gardenias?

Answer: First let me say that gardenias seldom need much pruning. If you are only needing to cut back a gangly branch or two, you can do that any time of the year. However, if a bush must be cut back, the best time to do that would be after the bush has finished flowering. This would probably be about late May for your area.
