| We have a very large Winter Jasmine bush that is taking over the area next to our driveway. It is more than 5 feet tall, 5 feet wide, and at least 15 feet long. It has finished flowering for the season and desperatly needs to be pruned. What is the proper way to do this and can I use electric hedge trimmers without harming the plant or hindering its flowering for next season? |
| Hedge trimming won't hurt the plant, but it will probably result in lopsided growth. It will probably encourage branches to grow at the buds closest to the cut, making the vine bushier. Definitely cut back the oldest stems to the main trunk, and do the same with rangey, crowded growth. Best of luck! |
