The most popular edible poppy seeds are gathered from the opium poppy, Papaver somniferum. There are two varieties, blue seeded (var. nigrum) and white seeded (var. glabrum). Corn poppy (P. rhoeas) also has edible seeds. You can purchase seed for all three from Richter's Herb Catalog, www.richters.com, or call 905/640-6677.
