I have several moss baskets to plant, because these baskets require a lot of care I thought it would be wise to start out with something tough. Can you give me some suggestions?

About the only real care a moss basket needs is frequent watering. Because you'll be using moss instead of soilless potting mix, and the moss is quite porous, moisture will evaporate very quickly. One way to control this tendency to become bone-dry is to immerse the baskets in a tub of water for 5-10 minutes every other day. Impatiens, Lobelia, Viola (especially Johnny Jump-Ups), Alyssum and Creeping Charlie are all good choices for moss baskets.
