Please tell me the proper care of the Star of India plant. |
The true identity of your Star of India is Aglaonema, also known as Chinese Evergreen. Aglaonema is a slow-growing plant that requires frequent feeding, moist air, and plenty of water during the growing season. The leaves are large and spear-shaped, growing on short stems. Some have white or yellow variegated foliage, and these types need more light that those with plain green leaves. Give your plant warm temperatures (minimum of 60F in the winter, semi-shade or bright light, but keep away from direct sunlight. Water sparingly in the winter, but keep the soil moist from spring through autumn. Mist the leaves regularly and feed with a diluted liquid fertilizer every 4 weeks during the growing season. |
