Question: Is kiwi managable in size for my home garden? Also, I have read there is a self-fruiting variety called Issai' which does not need a second vine to pollinate. Do you sell it? Alyce Steidler Santa Barbara, CA

Answer: You might want to consider growing the fuzzy kiwi in Santa Barbara in your home garden and not the hardy kiwi. 'Issai' is a self-fruitful, hardy variety, but the fruits don't get as large and tasty as the "New Zealand" types. I'd contact the nursery below to get kiwi information and plants for growing in your area. Pacific Tree Farms 4301Lynnwood Dr. Chula Vista, CA 91910 619-422-2400
