I think I have an African Mallow bush/plant. It is a profusely flowering plant with small pink flowers all over it. Last year, it grew about a foot high and wide. I want to know if I have to prune it or just leave it as it is. With the heavy snow this year some of the branches are bent and broken. |
If your is truly a bush mallow, it's probably Malva alcea. Take a look at the image on this page to see if my guess is correct: http://www.sierra.com/sierrahome/gardening/encyc/display/0,1073,1147,00.html Bush mallows should be trimmed after their first bloom to encourage rebloom through the summer. At the end of the growing season, cut them down to the ground, but take care not to damage the crown. Hope this helps! |
