I have planted Burpee tomato seeds and green peppers and would like to know when I can start fertilizing and what and how much? I planted the seeds March 15th and live in upstate NY, last frost is May 30.

Most seedlings do not need much fertilizer until they have several sets of true leaves. At that point you might give them a very dilute solution of balanced liquid soluble fertilizer such as MiracleGro at about one fourth the label rate about once a week. (Some gardeners will also use manure tea in addition or instead for their transplants.) Continue this until they are set out in the garden.
