The Q&A Archives: Source for Japanese "Green" Soybeans

Question: Everytime I have sushi I have these fabulous soybeans. I asked if I am able to buy them in the supermarket the reply is no. Can I grow them? If so who will sell me seeds? Signed desperately seeking soybeans!!! Thank you. Stacey...Soybean Girl Ocean, NJ

Answer: Those Japanese soybeans maybe "green" soybeans or butterbeans. These are varieties that are grown and harvested for their green soybeans, before the bean fully matures. They are very popular in Japan and my kids and I love them in my Vermont garden. They're easy to grow and mature in late summer. Contact the following company for the best varieties.
