| Although junipers are often consdiered to be a good groundcover, they do not actually grow all that fast -- a foot a year is considered a good pace for these shrubs. They also need full sun and soil with good drainage in order to do well. Several junipers would suit that description, one form of creeping juniper (Juniperus horizontalis) commonly seen is called both "Blue Rug" and "Wiltoni" and grows about four inches high. This is very commonly available at garden centers and nurseries in the spring (and in fact, nearly year round). If you need a large quantity it may be worthwhile contacting several to see about sizes and pricing and any alternative suggestions of plants they may have in stock. |
